Narration transcript
The English narration in this video. Select a time to watch that moment.
R one and R two share one cable, and both connected ports have IPv4 addresses.
Open Captures and choose New capture.
Select the cable to capture both directions. A circular buffer keeps a bounded recent history.
Start capturing before you generate traffic.
Open R one's terminal and ping R two's address.
Address resolution can delay the first reply, so repeat the ping to check the warm path.
The repeated ping succeeds. Return to Captures to inspect the traffic that the simulator observed.
Apply the ICMP display filter to show echo requests and replies.
Select a packet, then expand its ICMP fields. Requests use type eight, and replies use type zero.
Select a field to highlight its corresponding bytes in the byte pane.
Refine the display with ICMP type equals eight. This shows echo requests.
Filters take effect when you apply them. An incomplete expression is rejected, and the last valid display remains in place.
Pin the selected frame to show its observed cable and path on the topology.
Stop the capture when you have enough traffic. Stopping prevents new frames, while the captured rows remain available for inspection.
Export all includes the complete retained capture.
Export displayed includes only frames matching the active display filter.
Both downloads use classic PCAP format. These frames are reconstructed from simulation observations.
Cancel keeps the captured frames. Confirm Clear to discard this session's buffer.
Export any evidence you need before deleting the capture session.
Capture buffers are temporary: saving your lab does not preserve its captured frames.
