Use Events to investigate changes in your lab

Read the events produced by a real terminal action. Search descriptions and device names, choose a category, recover from empty filtered results and refresh the log. Export the current results and check the downloaded text, filters and ISO timestamps. Learn how Cancel preserves the log and how Clear permanently removes every event for this lab, including events hidden by filters. Verify that devices and configuration remain intact and that new actions create new events. Large filtered searches cover the most recent ten thousand events.

  1. Read the record of a real action

  2. Start with a working lab. R1 can reach R2 through this connection.

  3. Give the connection a description in the terminal, then open Events.

  4. This row records the command that ran on R1.

  5. Read the time, category, device, severity and description of each event.

  6. Terminal actions appear as Command. Check the result and device state to confirm success.

  7. Find the events you need

  8. Search a description to find the matching event.

  9. Search a device name to find its events. There is no separate device filter.

  10. Choose Command to focus on terminal activity and its matching count.

  11. Clear the category to return to the full event list.

  12. An empty result can mean the filters match nothing. Clear them to recover the events.

  13. Refresh and keep an export

  14. After another change, Refresh checks the latest stored events.

  15. Export keeps a text copy of the current results, using your active filters.

  16. Check the total, filters, ISO timestamps and matching row in the downloaded file.

  17. Clear all filters before exporting a broader copy of the log.

  18. Large filtered searches cover the most recent ten thousand events.

  19. Clear a disposable log deliberately

  20. Export first. Clear permanently deletes every event recorded for this lab.

  21. Cancel leaves the event log unchanged.

  22. Clear deletes all lab events, even when a filter was active.

  23. This deletion cannot be undone. Confirm only when you are ready to lose the log.

  24. Devices and configuration remain in place. New actions add new events to the log.
